The Oregon Just Transition Alliance is commemorating The People’s Climate Movement on April 29th with a Just Transition Webinar highlighting the community-led solutions to end the bad and build the new.
Save the Date!!
Last year, frontline communities organizing with the Oregon Just Transition Alliance led the Portland People’s Climate Movement (PCM). More than 50 organizations across Oregon including thousands of people showing up for local marches across rural Oregon joined in solidarity with the communities facing the worst ecological injustices to advance the Portland PCM Platform.
Oregon Just Transition Alliance builds unity among frontline communities. It’s necessary to center the most-impacted people in discussions of environmental and climate justice. The platform states, “people of color, low income communities, and rural and tribal people are at the front line of environmental and climate injustice- our communities must lead the efforts to address climate change. Climate change is only a symptom of much deeper crises that are happening worldwide- the ecological crisis, economic crisis, and the crisis of empire. These crises are born from the current dominant economy, which relies on exploitation and extraction of resources to benefit the few. We must create a system that works for everyone based on cooperation, close communities, and regenerative processes.” Learn more HERE.
We are excited to commemorate April 29th as a day for climate, jobs, and justice by amplifying a Just Transition framework and the principles of building a regenerative economy. This webinar will focus on the organizing campaign(s) our frontline groups are leading in rural Oregon to oppose the Pacific Connector Pipeline and Jordan Cove Fracked Gas terminal. Come learn about the Just Transition and actions frontline groups in Oregon are leading.
Join us as we learn and strategize together for our communities.
